Composite bonding is one of the quickest and easiest ways to make improvements to a person’s smile. The treatment consists of applying tooth-colored resin to one’s teeth in order to make changes to their appearance and repair minor damage.
There are many applications of composite bonding treatment, including:
- Filling cavities
- Repairing damaged teeth
- Adjusting tooth color
- Reducing noticeable gaps
- Making spacing adjustments
- Evening out tooth heights
- Correcting misshapen teeth
- Protecting tooth roots
Because composite bonding is a relatively simple procedure, it can be completed with just one visit to our practice. The process starts with us thoroughly cleaning any tooth that is designated for treatment. Next, a shade of resin that matches the patient’s teeth will be selected, and any decay or deterioration that is present will be carefully removed.
Once the teeth are ready, the composite resin will be applied in multiple layers. Each layer will be individually hardened using a dental curing light. After the desired level of thickness has been attained, the composite material will be allowed to fully harden so that it reaches the proper consistency. To finish, the teeth will be buffed and polished to provide them with a natural appearance. When cared for properly, a composite bonding should remain intact for up to ten years.
