This process involves taking down your medical history to see if you are suitable for dental implants and assessing the bone in your jaw through the use of CT scans and dental x-rays (all taken at our office). These show the structures in your jaw in great detail and are essential for planning successful implants.
The dental implant procedure is really quite short, and we will make sure you have appropriate anesthesia so that you remain comfortable. A single implant can take as little as half an hour to insert into the jaw. Once it is placed, your gum will be sutured back into position, completing this stage of surgery.
Following the procedure, you should take it easy for the rest of the day, but will likely be able to return to work the next day. Then, it is simply a matter of waiting for the dental implant post to integrate with your jawbone before the next part (the abutment) can be attached. The final step will be for the implant crown to be made, restoring your smile to its former glory.
